Here at India Vision Institute, we have a single, yet rewarding, mission – the mission to enhance accessibility to eye health in the remotest corners of India. While we stand committed to our mission of preventing avoidable blindness, our journey across 23 states has been exhausting but rewarding.
Our teams often have to travel to areas that are quite out of the way, where accommodation and other basic amenities are scarce. Proper drinking water, sanitation facilities, and other basic amenities are few and far between in many areas. Notwithstanding these odds, our optometrists go on, impelled by a strong urge to take eye care to those who need it the most.
Resource allocation is an essential part of our operations. Each camp and project is carefully planned and executed. The teams carry the necessary equipment and supplies and are on the road for hours on end in harsh weather conditions to reach destinations. That involves huge coordination and lots of commitment to manage logistics; for which our teams rise with ease, motivated by the impact created.
We target underprivileged groups of people and school children. They are the most vulnerable whose poor vision hampers productivity and income, and education and quality of life. Regular eye camps and screening help us extend timely help and intervention. Our efforts address not just immediate eye health needs but long-term well-being, productivity and longevity.
What’s more rewarding is the impact that can directly be seen among the over a million lives we have touched. From helping somebody with spectacles to referral for surgeries in cases where the extent is more serious, IVI’s work has brought light into many lives. Each successful intervention and the communities we serve speaks volumes for the dedication and resilience of our team.
While we grow in our journey, we hold fast to our vision and the expansion of our reach and impact. Each state we cover brings us a step closer toward our vision, a future where no one suffers needlessly from avoidable blindness. We, at India Vision Institute strongly believe, that everyone has the right to clear sight and we are committed to making that vision a reality.
