Program Officer (Optometrist)
The Optometrist will be responsible for delivering primary eye care services during vision screening camps, outreach programs, and vision centers. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing refractive errors using basic refractive techniques (including retinoscopy), and prescribing corrective lenses. The Optometrist will maintain detailed records of patients and beneficiaries, preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports on camp outcomes. In addition, the role involves supporting awareness activities and, when needed, assisting with selling optical products at vision centers operated by the organization. Flexibility to travel, a passion for community service, and strong reporting and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optometry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct vision screenings and eye exams using basic refractive skills, including retinoscopy.
Diagnose refractive errors, prescribe corrective lenses, and refer patients for further treatment if needed.
Maintain detailed records of patients screened and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Participate in awareness and educational activities related to eye health.
Assist with optical sales and customer service if assigned to work in vision centers.
Collaborate with Program Assistants to manage patient flow and record keeping during camps.
