India Vision Institute (IVI) organized a seven-day comprehensive hands-on capacity building workshop from 16-22 December 2013 at Rohtak, Haryana, for a group of 25 senior vision care professionals of the National Ophthalmic Association (NOA).
“The workshop will enhance the skill sets of vision care professionals at NOA in better meeting the needs of rural India. The new approaches discussed in the workshop will also assist them in their professional practice. I look forward to working together with NOA as part of IVI’s efforts in strengthening Indian optometry” Mr Vinod Daniel, CEO IVI, said on the occasion.
Facilitated by Mr Srikanth M, Associate Optometrist, Bausch & Lomb School of Optometry, Hyderabad and Mr Revant Kumar, Program Manager, IVI, Chennai, the workshop covered a range of topics including essentials of refraction, ophthalmic dispensing, soft skills and entrepreneurship development.
The workshop is the first of the two pilot workshops planned between December 2013 and February 2014 following an agreement between IVI and New Vision Generation India Pvt Ltd. to hold capacity building workshops for Ophthalmic assistants. The next workshop will be held in Trichy (Tamil Nadu) in early February 2014. IVI acknowledges the support of New Vision Generation India Pvt Ltd.
