IVI organized a one day seminar on Ocular Surface
and Contact Lens in Hyderabad on 12 July 2014.
Designed to benefit the wider Optometry
community including practitioners, educators, researchers and students , the
workshop covered a range of topics including Ocular surface discomfort with and
without contact lenses, Osmalarity/Osmalality importance in dry eye, Mechanism
and clinical significance of corneal staining, Lid wiper epitheliopathy,
Grading of meibomian gland dysfunction, Methods of diagnosis, evaluation,
Management and treatment for MGD.
Over 50 participants attended the workshop,
including from the Bausch & Lomb School of Optometry, Hyderabad; School of
Optometry and Vision Science, University of Hyderabad and Lions eye hospital,
Adilabad.
A panel of experts facilitated the workshop: Dr
Krupa Philip, Nagaraju Konda, Swati Kanduri and Dr Kalika Bandamwar from the
Brien Holden Vision Institute,Hyderabad; Ling Lee – PhD student, Brien Holden
Vision Institute and UNSW, Australia; and Srikanth Dumpati- Associate
Optometrist in Cornea and Contact Lens services at L V Prasad Eye Institute,
Hyderabad.
Interactive sessions conducted at the workshop
were received with great enthusiasm by the participants. The program drew to a
close with distribution of participation certificates.
