Optics for Optometrists

IVI organised a one-day workshop on “Optics for Optometrists” at Hyderabad on 31 October.

Facilitated by Dr L Srinivasa Varadharajan, Research Scientist Visual Optics and Psychophysics Laboratory, LVPEI, Hyderabad, the workshop focused on electromagnetic waves, polarization, refractive index, prisms, front and back vertex power, effectivity, prentice rule and schematic eye and their applications in Optometry.

Over 45 participants including, students, educators and practitioners from University of Hyderabad, Center for Sight, Hyderabad, Pushpagiri Eye hospital, Hyderabad, Neo Retina Eye Care Institute, Hyderabad and Paramedical Institute, BMHRC, Bhopal participated in the workshop.

The approach of training adopted to revisit the concepts in Optics and its connection with Optometry was particularly appreciated by the participants.

The workshop was awarded 05 credit points by Optometry Council of India (OCI).

IVI acknowledges the support of 'Brien Holden Vision Institute Foundation' and 'Optometry Giving Sight' in funding the program.
