A Workshop on Ocular Prosthetics
IVI organised a one- day comprehensive session, “A Workshop on Ocular Prosthetics “in collaboration with Dr.D.Y.Patil Institute of Optometry and Visual Sciences in Pune on 21 November 2015
Facilitated by Mr Sachin Gupta, Director at Art Eyes, New Delhi, the workshop focused on introduction to Ocularisty, disfigurement of eye, making and fitting of prosthetic eyes and managing ocular discharge. This was followed by a live demonstration of procedures involved in Ocular prosthetics’ making at the institute’s lab.
The workshop was attended by over 44 Optometry practitioners, educators and students from Dr. D.Y.Patil Institute of Optometry and visual Sciences, Pune; Bharati Vidhyapeet University,Pune; Laxmi College of Optometry,Mumbai; Nagar School of Optometry,Ahmedabad; among other Optometry institutes and Eye hospitals across India. As not many workshops have been conducted on Ocular Prosthetics in India, the participants highly appreciated the idea of the workshop, found it informative and also expressed that they would want to attend the advanced modules in future.
The workshop was awarded 05 credit points by Optometry Council of India (OCI).
