IVI Flood Relief Vision Screening Campaign in Chennai
India Vision Institute (IVI) is conducting a series of vision screening programs as a flood relief campaign and providing free spectacles for those disadvantaged communities who lost their spectacles by the recent floods which have caused severe destruction and damages, in and around Chennai.
The campaign began today with first vision screening program organized in Palavakkam, in the presence of Mr Viswanathan, Councillor, Palavakkam; Mr Dharmaprasada Rai, Head, Esslior Vision Foundation and Mr Vinod Daniel, CEO of IVI.
“The vision screening campaign is a modest effort to provide spectacles to those from underprivileged communities who lost them in the recent floods, along with other belongings”, said Mr Daniel on the occasion. He further said that IVI was pleased to be able to provide some support in this hour of need.
While appreciating the gesture of IVI in coming forward with humanitarian relief at this difficult time, Mr Viswanathan lauded the continuing eye care support provided by IVI through vision screening campaigns throughout the year, including in Palavakkam.
Mr Dharmaprasad said that “Esslior Vision Foundation was pleased to partner with IVI in the vision screening campaign and provide spectacles to the needy thus giving them a better life through better sight.”
Further campaigns are planned across flood affected areas in Chennai such as Pallikaranai, Saidapet, Ramapuram, Red Hills, Kotturpuram and Triplicane among others, over the next four weeks.
IVI acknowledges the support of Essilor Vision Foundation in providing spectacles to those diagnosed with refractive errors.
