Mr Vinod Daniel, CEO of India Vision institute has been honored with the inaugural HV Desai Golden Eye ACOIN Award 2012 in recognition of his contribution towards community eye-health care. The award was presented by His Excellency Governor of Odisha, Dr S C Jamir, at the 4th Annual Conference of the Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India held in Bhubaneshwar on 10th November 2013.
Expressing his gratitude, Mr Daniel said, ‘to prevent avoidable blindness especially in rural India, intervention at the community level is of utmost importance – a gap that the highly skilled optometry community can fill’. He further dedicated the award to all IVI staff and partners.
The Golden Eye Award was instituted in 2012 to motivate eye-health care professionals to work for the benefit of the community. Ms Jissa James, IVI Senior Program Manager, received the award on behalf of Mr Daniel and also presented a talk on Aksauhini - IVI’s long-term strategic plan to secure excellence in eyecare services in India.
