IVI partners with 2.5 NVG to lead the change in Indian Optometry capacity building

Continuing with its efforts to raise the standards of Indian Optometry to reach as wide a population as possible for vision screening, India Vision Institute (IVI), an independent, not-for-profit registered trust, organised a workshop for vision care professionals in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, from 17-19 June.

The comprehensive capacity-building workshop, organised in collaboration with 2.5 New Vision Generation (NVG), a division of Essilor India Pvt Ltd., involved 50 vision care professionals.

IVI CEO Vinod Daniel said, “Leadership training and such workshops are a major priority for us as they raise Optometry standards, which help in expanding the coverage for vision screening across India.”

“The Dharamshala workshop was the thirteenth in the series of training programs conceptualised and implemented by IVI in partnership with 2.5 NVG with a focus on Tier II and Tier III cities across India. The workshop focused on refraction, dispensing, soft skills and entrepreneurship development,” he said.

Workshops have previously been held in Rohtak, Trichy, Aurangabad, Patna, Ludhiana, Rajahmundry, Tumkur, Ranchi, Nanded, Raipur, Siliguri and Jaipur. Over 400 ophthalmic professionals have been trained since 2013.
